“GLORY IN OUR SCARS”

Yesterday, I started studying the book of Ephesians, chapters (1-2) and I began to read about the blessings of redemption, how we have been made alive by the resurrection power of Christ, how we were chosen in Christ BEFORE the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight (1:4), how we have been predestined for adoption to Christ Jesus (1:5), how we have redemption through his blood and the forgiveness of our sins- in accordance to his grace (1:7), how we have been MARKED in him with the seal of the holy spirit (1:13), how we have been raised up to sit with Christ in GLORY (2:6) and all I could hear from the holy spirit was that “there’s so much glory in the scar”.

I feel like a lot of the time the enemy wants us to focus on our “scars”, how deep they run, how ‘ugly’ they may look, how ‘unclean’ they may be, but the healing that we have already received from Christ, by his grace and his love [before we were even created] runs so much deeper. Not only have we been made righteous and holy in Christ, but the scars we may bear can be used to glorify God. Don’t give the enemy any power to hold anything against you that you have already been redeemed from. Instead, shift your focus to the one who redeemed and redeems– because the authority and power that resonates in him is incomparable to any power the enemy may have. Focus on the GLORY in the scar- which is by definition a ‘healed wound’. Where there is a scar, there is evidence of God’s boundless, never-ending and all consuming love, so we can actually BOAST in our weaknesses because it reminds us of who God is- the God who REIGNS, the God who SAVES and the God who HEALS. God takes what the enemy intends for evil and turns it around, the whole 360 degreees- for OUR GOOD, because he wants us to not only run our race without carrying any burdens, but to lift someone else up so that they too can flourish and experience the love that we hold.

We CAN use our scars to GLORIFY GOD.

I tuned into Transformation Church yesterday and wheeeww the worship was so spirit-filled and spirit-led that Pastor Mike Todd decided to not even preach his message- instead we worshipped for 2 hours straight and it was so powerful. Worship really is our weapon and the reason I chose to attach “Our God Reigns” is because it constantly reminds me of the God that we serve, ‘the GLORY and HONOUR’ that truly belongs to the King. It’s a constant reminder that even though sometimes we may genuinely walk through the deepest and darkest of valleys, we can never [by definition of who God is= love] be alone in that walk- his rod and his staff protect and guide us, because HIS kingdom REIGNS above anything else.

There’s so much power in our thoughts because God has blessed us all with such incredible minds, but with such a spiritual blessing comes a responsibility to learn how to guard our minds, our hearts, our soul and our spirit from anything that is not aligned with what God has spoken over our lives. If God has called me to live a life that is free from my past, free from any strongholds, free from any chains- then any voice that says otherwise has to be ‘taken captive and made obedient to Christ’ (2 Corinthians 10:5). The apostle Paul is one of my FAVOURITE writers in the bible because he spends a lot of time teaching about the power of the mind and the importance of taking care of our thought life, by putting on the full armour of God every day to take a stand against the enemy’s schemes. We have to continually fill ourselves up with the holy spirit, so that there isn’t any room left in our mind for anything else to reside.

A shift in perspective can really change everything, and it can only come from consistent prayer in the spirit, throughout every single season. I realllyy hope you made it to the end of this post because it looks like the longest one I’ve written this far- welp. But I felt like this was genuinely on my heart to remind you-myself included that Christianity really is the most powerful love story to ever be written. Our stories don’t end with our scars, they end with giving God the Glory.
